Gearing up for Tucson’s Winter 4th Avenue Street Fair

The 4th Avenue Street Fair is one of Tucson’s most famous and beloved events. It takes place twice per year—once in the winter and again in the spring—and this winter marks the 50th anniversary of the event.

During the 4th Avenue Street Fair, Tucsonans and visitors gather to view local and international artists’ work, enjoy live entertainment, and dine on an amazing selection of street food from local vendors. It all takes place along historic 4th Avenue, where shops and restaurants run events and specials to coincide with the festivities happening outside.

What to Expect

From December 13-15, the main shopping and dining stretch of 4th Avenue will close to vehicle traffic as tents set up with vendors, artists, and event stages. The festival is free to attend, and people of all ages are welcome. It takes place from 10 a.m. until dusk each day.

About 600,000 guests show up to the 4th Avenue Street Fair every year, so expect large crowds. You can also expect to see artwork and crafts from more than 300 international artisans, more than 40 local food concessionaires, and several street performances and concerts. With so many crafts and treats available, the Street Fair is a great place to get your holiday shopping done.

What to Know Before You Go

Because 4th Avenue closes to traffic during the event, parking can be a challenge. You might choose to park at one of the garages downtown and take a short walk or streetcar ride to the event. Additionally, no pets are allowed at the street fair. Many vendors at the event can accept credit cards, but it is recommended to have cash handy for those that do not. ATMs will also be available throughout the event.

If you don’t want to miss any of the cultural events that Tucson has to offer, living in the exclusive community of Miramonte Barrio Viejo can keep you connected. With an amazing location just steps from some of downtown’s best shopping and dining, this neighborhood is going to sell fast. Join our interest list today to learn more!
