The Team

Chris Kemmerly

Principal/CEO

Chris Kemmerly’s inspiration to start and build respected homebuilding and development companies began during his formative years, which were guided by two hard-driving Illinois homebuilders with a talent for seizing opportunities — his father Jack and grandfather John Frederick.

Chris’ mentors taught him that integrity, perseverance and humor were integral to growing a solid business. This advice served him well at the University of Arizona where he graduated in 1982, and at his first job with Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate Services, where he worked as an intern in college and a commercial real estate broker after graduation for four years before he joined Kennedy Brothers Construction (KBC), the largest home building company at that time in Chicago.

By age 28, Chris relocated to Southern California and became a co-owner of Galey & Kemmerly Homes, a Carlsbad-based homebuilding company. After a few years, he ultimately sold his interests in California prior to moving his operations to Tucson in 1992, when he formed the Kemmerly Company and built his first custom spec home.

In 1995, Kemmerly formed Miramonte Homes and began building single-family homes in Southern Arizona. At that time, Kemmerly also began developing and building owner-occupied build-to-suite office and industrial buildings in Southern Arizona as the Kemmerly Company.

Before the recession hit in 2008, Chris sold his home building company to Standard Pacific Homes and ran their Southern Arizona home building division for a few years before he bought his home building company back from Standard Pacific and cemented his reputation for building quality homes with integrity while he weathered the recession. Today his company is one of the largest independent builders in Arizona, known for real estate development expertise; durability in the marketplace; and unwavering dedication to quality, craftsmanship, customers and the community.

In a state dominated by national homebuilders with little knowledge of northern and southern Arizona’s unique culture, Kemmerly has proven to borrowers, lenders and investors that his
companies have the edge when it comes to navigating the complexities of local real estate development.

Building successful projects that provide value to both buyers and investors is Chris’ top priority. Today, Chris and his team have built exceptional and highly respected companies with annual revenues of more than $64 million. When asked how he did this, Chris will tell you, “Treat others as you wish to be treated.”

Julie Mastriani

President

As a first-generation Greek American, at an early age Julie Mastriani was taught that success in life comes to those who work hard. She does work hard and has great fun doing it. In addition to the strong work ethic she learned from her parents, she also developed a sense of the importance of personal accountability, kindness and compassion as guiding life principles.

As the President of Miramonte, Mastriani empowers her team to be the best in the industry by supporting professional growth at all levels of the organization. She calls it “the Miramonte culture” that rewards performance and ability. It has empowered Mastriani to become a recognized leader in a historically male-dominated industry.

Mastriani joined the company in 1996 after graduating from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Soon she began mastering the many skills needed to successfully manage all aspects of the business.

Today, Mastriani works closely with the Company CEO and Founder, Chris Kemmerly, on strategic business planning, finance/budget management, new project selection and risk management. Her knowledge and experience in all facets of homebuilding operations have been an integral part of the company’s growth and success and has fostered the growth of the employees within the company.

When asked about her professional mentors, Mastriani points to Kathy Wade, retired regional president of Standard Pacific Homes (now Lennar Homes), and Miramonte CEO Chris Kemmerly. She credits both Kemmerly and Wade with generously sharing their depth of homebuilding and management knowledge, and Kemmerly specifically for his recognition and support of Mastriani’s leadership potential.

Mastriani is proud of Miramonte’s deep roots and strong relationships in southwestern and northern Arizona creating measurable benefits to those the company serves. She and her team understand firsthand how to effectively address the complexities a private production homebuilder faces in today’s challenging business environment.

Most of all Mastriani is proud of the finished product Miramonte delivers — beautifully crafted, customized homes where lives are lived, and memories are made.

When Mastriani is not at the office, or out in the field, she enjoys reading, traveling, and biking, hiking and swimming, even in Tucson’s legendary heat. She says the Tucson climate suits her perfectly and allows her to enjoy numerous activities with her friends and family.

Jack Kemmerly

Vice President of Land & Product Development

Jack Kemmerly is a third-generation homebuilder following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Both instilled in him an exceptional work ethic and in-depth knowledge of the industry.

At age 10, Jack started working for Miramonte as a laborer and, over the years, has been a landscaper, superintendent and project manager. He also served as a multi-family capital improvements consultant for an investment group managing exterior improvements for eight apartment properties in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Jack is a graduate of Northern Arizona University, where he completed undergraduate studies in finance and business management. He went on to complete his master’s degree in real estate development from the University of Arizona before returning to Flagstaff full time.

He also values living in a town where his neighbors are clients and where he is reminded every day that Miramonte has the privilege of building quality homes, communities and relationships in the beautiful state of Arizona.

Chad Hunley

Chief Financial Officer

In 2017, Miramonte welcomed Chad Hunley to the Miramonte Executive Team as Chief Financial Officer. With over 20 years of accounting and finance experience in real estate related industries such as self-storage, muli-family, commercial properties and most recently a luxury golf resort residential development, Chad’s experience will assist Miramonte as it continues its growth as one of the state’s largest private homebuilders.

With additional expertise in operations related areas such as integration of accounting and business systems focused on improved efficiencies and transparency of financial reporting; Chad also lends his experience to business development and operations. Chad’s willingness to be involved in all aspects of a business has provided him with a unique understanding of information flow, benefitting both the business and accounting process.

By joining the Miramonte team, Chad returned to Tucson where he has been a 30 year resident and an alumnus of The University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Don Walters

President, Northern Arizona Division

Don Walters has come out of retirement to join the Northern Arizona Division of Miramonte Homes as the Executive Vice President.

For over 35 years, Don has been a trusted leader in construction and development. His construction and management experience touch all aspects of the industry including financial planning and reporting, estimating, scheduling, staffing and design build. Having built several construction companies from the ground up, he knows what it takes to succeed. Partnering with clients, colleagues and employees to build quality projects has been the focus of Don’s career.

Don is or has been an active member of several professional organizations in Flagstaff where valuable relationships are formed. Those groups include Chair of the Coconino County Planning and Zoning Commission, Flagstaff Regional Plan Citizens Advisor Committee, Citizens Advisory Committee for the New Flagstaff Regional Plan and the Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona Advisor Board (ECoNA).

Don attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott where he majored in Aeronautical Science with a minor in engineering.

A native of Northern Arizona, Don comes from an Arizona pioneering family who can be tracked back to the 1860’s.

Gerrie Gray, CGB

Vice President of Land Acquisition and Development, Tucson Division

Gerrie Gray has spent over fourteen years in the home building industry, bringing an invaluable can-do attitude to Miramonte. Her experience in project management has allowed her to serve Miramonte in various capacities including forward planning, land development, land acquisition, sales and marketing, on-site project management and home owner’s association management.

Gerrie interfaces with engineers and contractors. She also represents Miramonte at public planning sessions and city council meetings.

Gerrie is an active Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA) member. She serves on the Advisory Committee and SAHBA Tech Committee.

Prior to joining the home building industry, Gerrie spent 17 years working in a variety of roles at various engineering firms in Tucson.

Gerrie currently has a Certified Graduate Builder Designation from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Dan Riordan

Business Development Manager

Dan Riordan is a native Arizonan bringing over 34 years of experience in residential sales and sales management to the Miramonte team.

Operating out of Sedona, Dan leads Sales production at our Park Place Sedona project in addition to serving in Business Development for Northern Arizona operations. His broad experience in Real Estate Sales and Management lends to the “wide-angle” view required to produce results as well as maintaining enduring and fruitful relationships with our local Realtor® Association communities.

Dan’s priority is keeping Miramonte Home buyers completely satisfied with their purchase. By involving the home buyer in the entire building process, he keeps each Customer suitably engaged and informed from contract to close. Having sold his first Miramonte home in 2004 and purchasing his latest Miramonte home in 2018, Dan authenticates the quality and integrity that goes into every one of our homes.

John Angelini

Northern Arizona Division Vice President of Sales and Designated Broker

John Angelini has strong ties to Miramonte and today oversees the sales team in Northern Arizona with a concentrated focus on maintaining the highest level of homeowner satisfaction, from point of sale through move in. He also will be expanding regional realtor relationships with Miramonte Homes.

Prior to serving in Flagstaff, Angelini was the former Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Miramonte Homes Tucson in early 2000. Angelini also formerly served Miramonte during the roll out of the companies’ first Flagstaff communities, including Forest Springs, Presidio in the Pines and Switzer Canyon.

Stephanie Quesada

Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Tucson, AZ. Division

As Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Stephanie Quesada shares her positive attitude, attention to detail and exceptional communication skills with her sales team on a daily basis. By building a strong team environment and setting the goals high, Stephanie has taken the Miramonte sales team to new heights.

Stephanie’s ability to understand and communicate the customer’s needs to the sales team, the construction team and the title and mortgage companies has made the buying experience at Miramonte an exceptional one. Proof of her success is seen in the positive homebuyer surveys which continue to be returned to Miramonte.

Prior to joining Miramonte, Stephanie spent over 10 years in the real estate business. Her tenure includes experience in the mortgage industry, property management and homebuilding.

Always in the growth and learning mode, Stephanie is a tremendous asset to the Miramonte team.

Jim Kinzer

Vice President of Construction, Tucson Division

Having been part of Miramonte’s growth and success from 1994 through the early 2000’s, Jim Kinzer rejoined the Miramonte team in 2017. As the Vice President of Construction, Tucson Division, Jim’s vast construction experience is an asset to Miramonte’s team as we continue to grow and be among the industries top builders.

For over 40 years, Jim has been involved in all phases of construction. His time in the industry has gained him the respect of industry leaders, subcontractors and co-workers. Jim’s unique ability to communicate with all parties including the client and his ability to get that information out to everyone involved in building the home has resulted in quality construction and satisfied customers, time after time.

For 13 years, Jim was the owner of his own residential and specialty commercial building company. In 2013 he was recognized by SAHBA as the Custom Builder of the Year. A carpenter by trade, Jim knows the ins and outs of construction.

Terry Tennyson

Vice President of Construction, Northern Arizona Division

Terry Tennyson is leading the charge at Miramonte’s Northern Arizona Division. Having spent over 20 years in the home building industry, Terry has proven to be a tremendous asset both in the construction management area and in the field.

Terry’s leadership skills are reflected in his ability to manage numerous superintendents and trade partners. He promotes a team oriented environment which has resulted in a high employee retention rate. The Northern Arizona Division, under Terry’s supervision, is process conscious, schedule driven, and profitable while delivering homes “on-time” and of the highest quality.

The Northern Arizona Division continues to see exceptionally high customer service ratings under Terry’s direction. The experience he brings to the job, his ability to foster a team environment and effectively include the homeowner in the homebuilding process is all reflected in positive homeowner surveys.

Prior to joining Miramonte, Terry spent several years with a national builder where he rose to the position of Director of Construction. During this time Terry was Superintendent of the year in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Terry also has a State of Arizona Contractor’s License and is OSHA trained and certified.
